Studio HENK for the European Medicines Agency (EMA)

On the Domenico Scarlattilaan, in the well-known area ‘Zuidas’ in Amsterdam, you will find the offices of the European Medicines Agency (EMA), an agency of the European Union. The international organization was formerly located in London, but moved to the Netherlands last year. In November they moved into the new building on the Zuidas. The project was realized by Rijksvastgoedbedrijf and Dura Vermeer. For the realization of the project they worked together with Heijmans, MVSA Architects and Fokkema & Partners amongst others. Architect of the Rijksvastgoedbedrijf, Fokke van Dijk, designed a building of 80 meters high with 19 floors. The building offers room for 900 employees from 30 countries.

In collaboration with Fokkema & Partners, who did the interior design, and Ahrend we delivered a large number of furniture pieces for this project. For the meeting rooms, we developed special meeting room tables for 10 people. The tables are custom-made, but have the characteristic Studio HENK Slim X-Type frame. On every floor, you will find one of our meeting room tables. For the info center and the waiting room, we delivered round tables with a Butterfly frame.

In the restaurant, you will find several high tables. With high tables you often create a slightly more informal setting, which is perfect for (office) restaurants. The tables have a black HPL tabletop and a New Co frame. In the sky lounge and the coffee lounge you will also find a few coffee tables by Studio HENK. The oak tabletops evoke a sense of warmth and create an inviting atmosphere.

The building received the BREAAM ‘Excellent’ design certificate. Now, they are striving to become an almost energy neutral building (BENG). We’re proud to be part of this beautiful project.
