HENK at home with Tricja Cotterrill

In the 'HENK at home' series, we visit people who inspire us, to give you a glimpse into their daily home life. This time we visit Tricja Cotterrill, fashion director and consultant.

Tricja lives with her husband in the picturesque village of Sloten, in a house they completely renovated themselves. Her interior is a mix of new, vintage pieces, and self-made furniture. She works as a fashion director for many different brands, campaigns, and lookbooks. We spoke with Tricja about her style and taste in fashion and interior design, and what she finds important in a home.

You are a fashion director and consultant, where do you get your inspiration for fashion and interior design?
I draw my inspiration from beautiful independent magazines such as Jane By The Grey Attic, RIKA, CEREAL, Kinfolk, and Ark Journal. I also find Pinterest a great platform. For fashion, I also get a lot of inspiration from brands like The Row, Jil Sander, Gia Studios, and Toteme. For my work, I travel regularly, and I always find that very inspiring. I often look at material usage and architectural forms.

How would you describe your own taste?
My taste is minimalist, serene, and mature. I like to combine different materials to create a rich feel. I also love neutral and plain colors which I combine with black or dark brown; this gives it a cool edge.

What do you pay attention to when styling your home?
I find it important that the items I buy are timeless and fit well together and suit the space. I invest in beautiful furniture and quality is a must for me. Nowadays, I also often buy vintage design furniture.

What is your favorite room in your house?
Actually, all rooms in our house are lovely. The bathroom is like a spa, the bedroom has a very pleasant atmosphere and a wonderful hotel bed, I love sleeping, haha. But when the sun shines, we have beautiful sunlight streaming in, and then the living room and sitting room are truly wonderful places to be.

How do you like the Cosy Sofa and what appeals to you in this design?
I am incredibly happy with the sofa. It's comfortable and soft, and its shape remains beautiful even after you've
sat on it. It doesn't sag like many sofas do. The shape of the sofa is also incredibly beautiful in our home. Its organic form makes the living room more special.

Tricja Cotterrill's Cosy Sofa is upholstered in Olbia fabric, Sand03 Design your own Cosy Sofa.
