A peek inside Liza Chloë van Duyn's home
In our new series 'A Look Inside', we visit inspiring individuals to give you a glimpse into their daily home life. Today, we're taking a look inside the home of Liza Chloë van Duyn. Liza is a fashion and lifestyle photographer who lives with her boyfriend and their two cats in a beautiful spot in the heart of Amsterdam.
Liza, we're very curious! Can you tell us more about your work and the role interior design plays in it?
"I currently work as a fashion and lifestyle photographer. In addition, I've turned Instagram into my profession. Since COVID-19, I've been increasingly involved in interior projects, which I really enjoy! As a photographer, I'm always focused on composition. What I find so fun and challenging about interior design is that you're essentially doing the same thing, but on a larger scale. You're exploring how to create a certain atmosphere or turn a house into a home using different objects, materials, and colors. I also share a lot of my own interior on Instagram."
We've indeed seen it. You have a beautiful interior. How would you describe your (interior) style?
"My interior is natural, contemporary, graphic, and balanced. I always try to consider the whole. Does this fit with the rest? Or does this give the rest more balance? I view interior design as a painting, so to speak. What composition is most pleasant to look at? When is it exciting, and what might still be missing?"
Have you always had that sense of style? How did you develop your style?
"My parents' house was always a collection of design furniture and objects they had collected over the years. Because of this, I became interested in design myself at a young age. In my own interior, you see this reflected in the furniture and objects I collect. I like to combine modern pieces of furniture with warmer ones, such as the dresser. I would love to have my own interior collection someday, primarily with decorative products."
You and your boyfriend have turned your house into a home. What does 'home' mean to you?
The place where I love to be most - where I find peace, can find inspiration, and enjoy my boyfriend, the cats, and soon our baby!
