HENK at home with Olivier de Croock

In the series 'HENK at home', we visit people who inspire us to give you a glimpse into their daily lives at home. This time, we pay a visit to design enthusiast Olivier de Croock; proud owner and creative director of Studio Croock, his own creative business specialising in interior decoration, floral arrangements, and event table settings.

Olivier resides in a modern apartment in bustling Antwerp, alongside his partner Hannes and their two Dachshunds, Coco and Blue. His Instagram feed serves as a wellspring of inspiration, showcasing his unique home, passion for floral design, and distinctive style. It's no wonder he's a notable presence in the design community.

How would you describe your interior style and what do you look for when purchasing a new piece of furniture?
I would describe my interior style as timeless, neutral with eclectic elements, natural earth tones, and dark wood as a base. I don't really have specific criteria when purchasing a new piece of furniture; I often just know immediately if it's the right fit. It's more of a gut feeling for me. However, I do pay attention to sustainable materials and have a preference for unique pieces and objects. When I buy something distinctive, I don't want to see that item in ten other interiors.

When you're out and about a lot, it's especially comforting to come home. What is your favourite place in the house and why?
My favourite place in the house is the living space, where I can completely unwind. There's plenty of natural light, which showcases everything in the living space beautifully. I can simply sit and gaze around, or lounge on the sofa with some music or browse through the books in my bookcase area. The living space is also the place where I welcome guests, and I always aim to create a cosy atmosphere there.

How do you like the Elements coffee table from Studio HENK, and what appeals to you about this design?
The Elements coffee table fits perfectly into our interior. Its beautiful dark colour and elegant design contribute to a timeless aesthetic in our home. I can place many books on it, and the coffee table serves that purpose perfectly. Its height is just right, making it perfectly balanced with our large sofa. It's as if they were made for each other!

You have your own design studio, Studio Croock. Do you have any exciting projects planned for this year?
Yes! I have several projects lined up for this year, including one in Scotland! I'm really looking forward to it; decorating with branches straight from the Scottish nature, an evening party filled with floral splendour. I think this will be a unique experience in that location. Additionally, I'm still the art director for a brand I'm a big fan of, and there are a few secret projects that I can't reveal too much about yet, to be continued!

The Base Lounge Chairs by Olivier are crafted in Smoked Oak, with the fabric regain natural01. The Elements Coffee Table is also crafted in Smoked Oak.
