HENK at home with Sophie Noyen

In the 'HENK at home' series, we visit people who inspire us to give you a glimpse into their daily home life. This time we visit Sofie Noyen, food and interior stylist.

Sofie lives in a charming house with a modern extension near Antwerp with her husband and three children. Her home feels modern and spacious, but at the same time exudes an oasis of calm through its warm colors and decor. Many pieces of furniture are unique items with a story, something Sofie finds important. We talk to her about her inspiration, her style, and why she chose the Column Table.

Sofie, you are super busy and a powerhouse. Mother, (food) stylist, you exercise every day; how do you make sure that home is 'home' after busy days on set/in the gym?

Home is where we find peace as a family. With all the hustle and bustle of work and external impulses, I really wanted to create an oasis of calm in our home. Many people who visit our home get a holiday feeling when they walk in. That's a great compliment for me! It's the place where I prioritize security and coziness. Something I naturally inherited to create, I think haha!

You have a beautiful personal style: how would you describe your interior style, what inspires you?
My style is a combination of eclectic, minimalist, and wabi-sabi. I love serenity and nonchalance; examples for me are architects Axel Vervoordt, Vincent Van Duyssen, and Benoit Vianne. In our home, you can find a combination of rough, earthy materials, geometric objects, many vintage items, but also classic pieces of furniture.

What do you pay attention to when buying items for your home?
I always make sure they are timeless and sustainable. I often buy second-hand items. I love searching for vintage items that I can breathe new life into. Generally, I choose furniture with serene and neutral colors; black can be combined with anything and exudes a lot of class. For decorative objects, I sometimes easily choose color. I also really like it when items in the house have a story; I love it when everything is in harmony with each other.

You had your whole house renovated; what do you still dream of achieving in your home?
The inside of the house is almost finished. Some rooms still need custom-made cabinets, and a few minor things need to be completed. I am now looking forward to the summer to finish the exterior of our house. Especially creating an intimate, cozy place on the terrace and its furnishing. We also have a small outbuilding in the garden for which I have many ideas, but that is future music. ;)

You chose the Column table - why did you choose this table?
I love the character and purity that the design radiates. The combination of simplicity with some body is something I find important. The sustainable aspect of the table is also very important to me; I like to invest in sustainable items. A large table was also a must for us, as we are a family of 5. When we have visitors, it immediately becomes a cozy crowd at the table; it really is central to our living space. The table is a real eye-catcher in our living area amidst the tranquility of the beige-tinted walls. I am incredibly happy with this choice!
