HENK at home with Linda Tol
In the 'HENK at home' series, we visit people who inspire us to give you a peek into their daily home life. This time we visit Linda Tol, who lives with her partner Renwe Jules and son Louie in beautiful Haarlem.
Linda Tol, an influencer and founder of her own eyewear brand, became a mother six months ago and moved from bustling Amsterdam to Haarlem with her partner Renwe just before that. Their home, a charming townhouse, is decorated with many neutral tones and timeless design.

Linda, besides a love for fashion, you clearly also have an eye for interiors. How would you describe your interior style?
“Sophisticated, timeless, and modern. I've noticed that I quickly grow tired of trendy items, so I prefer to buy items that aren't. For example, I once had pink crockery, but that usually gets replaced after a few weeks. Our house consists of neutral colors, which creates a sense of calm and is lovely to come home to. We do combine classics with vintage design, such as the old cabinet that once stood in a biology classroom. We deliberately didn't refurbish it because we liked the contrast.”
What is your favorite spot in the house?
“During the day, we spend a lot of time at the dining table, and in the evening, on our large corner sofa, the Cosy sofa from Studio HENK. Besides looking fantastic and fitting perfectly into our interior in terms of color, this sofa is also incredibly comfortable. That's very important to me. Sitting on the sofa means relaxing and unwinding for me. And the Cosy is perfect for that. It's our favorite spot to end the day together and watch a series with a cup of tea.”
What do you consider important when buying interior items?
“Just like with my wardrobe, I prefer to invest in quality and timeless design. We believe it's important that we enjoy our furniture for a long time and that we truly love something. But I don't think a house should be a showroom or a museum. It's really meant to be lived in. Especially with a child in the house, there's often toys everywhere, but that should be allowed. The most important thing for us is that we feel at home and that our house feels cozy. Especially now that we are home a lot, it has become even more important to have a nice house.”
What does your day usually look like? Do you have any particular rituals?
“I usually start my morning in the kitchen with a cup of tea and breakfast. Then we take turns showering and then all go downstairs. Around 11 AM, we have our first cup of coffee with something delicious at the dining table. Renwe makes the best soy cappuccinos. He's really developing his barista skills because he plans to open his own coffee shop. If Renwe isn't around, I get a coffee outside the house. I usually need at least two coffees to get through the day. After some work, we usually take a walk in the afternoon.”
How does your life compare now to the period before COVID-19?
“For me, my pregnancy coincided perfectly with the lockdown, so in a way, it was good that I could take more rest. Previously, I was on a plane three times a week, on my way to a fashion week or event, but I already noticed then that it was a bit too much for my body. Due to the measures, I was forced to rest during my pregnancy, and that of course benefited the baby. However, I am very homesick for Milan, where we lived for four years. I can't wait until I can see all my Italian friends again and introduce them to Louie. But above all, it's wonderful that we can spend a lot of time together as a family of three during this period. All the clichés are true: every evening I look forward to the next day when we can spend time with our son.”
